Ontario licensing essentials
Since November 2017, Ontario's Condominium Management Services Act, 2015 requires every company providing condominium management services to hold a Condominium Management Provider Licence from the CMRAO. Individual managers must hold a General or Limited licence. Hiring an unlicensed provider is illegal and removes key statutory protections from your corporation.
Licence status values are Active, Expired, Cancelled, Revoked, or Refused. Former licensees remain searchable in the registry — we list them too, so boards can identify red flags. Verify any status directly at cmrao.ca before signing a management agreement.
